Vegan, Vegetarian, or neither. What's right for me?

Vegan and vegetarian diets have become extremely popular as of late. But do we really need to ditch meat? In today’s episode we discuss how meat plays an important role in one’s diet, when consumed in moderation and how the nutrients found in meat help fuel our body.

Importance of iron / what to do if you're iron deficient

If you are following a vegan or vegetarian diet, it's important to make sure you’re getting adequate nutrition, especially iron, B12, calcium & zinc. It is possible to eat foods rich in these, however, the source of these vitamins isn’t as rich or as easily absorbed by the body in plant food as they are in animal products. If you are following a plant-based diet, make sure you’re checking in regularly with your GP to ensure your levels are okay and if you do need to take a supplement to keep your levels in check.

If you enjoy eating meat there is no reason to cut it out completely as it is a great source of protein and calcium. Just keep in mind that, like most foods, it should be eaten in moderation.
