Reduces overall fat intake and increases fresh whole foods, maximising healthy fats - polyunsaturated and plant monounsaturated. For a Lite & Trim profile, the plan is intended to ensure you do not eat more than you need and store excess calories as fat. It also features Omega-3 fats.

Mediterranean

Focuses on fibre-rich, natural foods with a good dose of healthy fats such as olive oil. Where this matches your profile, myDNA describes a diet focused on healthy fats, fibre and natural foods as the most effective and sustainable way of eating for you. That is myDNA's characterisation; the evidence for matching a diet to a person's genotype is still limited and contested, and a Mediterranean-style pattern is well supported on general nutritional grounds whatever a genetic test reports.

Who are myDNA?

myDNA are an Australian personalised genomics company that helps people understand their DNA and what to do with that knowledge. Their stated vision is to be the world's most trusted provider of personalised, actionable genetic information.

How does the test work?

Once you have swabbed your cheek and collected your DNA sample, you register and activate the sample - selecting "Yes" when asked if you have a DNA Collection kit - before sending it to myDNA. It then takes 10-15 business days to analyse the sample, generate insights and formulate plans, which are sent securely to your myDNA account.

Where is the DNA analysed and stored?

All samples are delivered to myDNA's laboratory in Melbourne, Australia, where DNA is extracted and analysed for specific genetic variations. Samples are stored at -84 degrees Celsius to prevent spoiling.

How accurate is the test?

myDNA states that a quality assurance process combined with its laboratory facilities allows it to control the reliability and validity of its tests, and that it boasts 99.9% accuracy. Its insights and recommendations are based on evidence compiled by its clinical team, and it adheres to an evidence rating scale using research based on extensive human trials.

How secure is my data?

myDNA states that your DNA sample and data remain your property, are stored on secure encrypted services, can be destroyed at any time at your request, and will never be shared without your consent. Data is anonymised. Its analysis is limited to the DNA markers it reports on: results do not include diseases, cannot be used to identify you, and have no bearing on insurance policies.
