Meet the Participants & Kate Save
Jaime is a 45 year old, very vibrant, social and confident single woman who is the 'queen of operations' at a digital design agency. She was someone who regularly skipped meals, sometimes not eating until 11am or even up to 3pm on a busy day. On work days, she might be tempted to snack when working from home instead of eating proper meals too. On weekends she often just enjoyed a pub meal with a beer for lunch. Jaime is now back on Season 4 of Space Invaders on Channel 9 and she desparately wants to fit back into her favourite blue dress.
‘’It was actually quite easily to do...I think I am going to keep the healthy new mindset, it has been really helpful for me and it is something that I am going to go forward with. It is certaintly a program that works!”
Tracey is a 47 year old marketing manager and she has been a single mum with 3 kids for the last 7 years untils he met Stuart and now they have blended their families with 5 kids between them. Tracey has always struggled with her weight and now she also has some health issues including borderline Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure. Tracey's goal is to lose 10kg now that she has kids so that she can be around to support them long into their futures and she also wants to get off her blood pressure medication.
‘’I don't feel as hungry as I used to. I have a lot of energy and I definitely feel a lot better within myself. My blood gluclose levels have dropped from 7.3mmol/l to 5.0mmol/l.
In regards to my blood pressure, it has significantly dropped...I can start coming off the tablets if it continues like that. I did manage to lose 9.3kg over the 28 days. I still have a long way to go...but I can see how much this has made a difference in my own well-being and watching my girls listen to what I have to say.”
Stuart is a 52 year old accountant was previously a single dad with 2 young daughters for the last 6 years before meeting Tracey. Stuart knows he has too much sugar in his diet and he is worried as he has family members with Type 2 Diabetes. Stuart is currently pre-diabetic. He knows his health can change quickly and wants to make sustainable healthy lifestyle changes for his family.
‘’My results were more modest than Tracey's but I have lost 3.8kg and its still my on-going goal to reach 95kg. I have removed the soft drink and I haven't missed it. I also haven't had an alcoholic drink over the last 28 days and I don't miss that either.”
Emma is 35 years old and she is an advanced life support paramedic and a registered nurse. Emma has had several miscarriages over the past 18 months and she was referred to a fertility specialist. Her obstetrician suggested that losing weight should be explored to see if it can assist with the fertility journey. Emma is now categorised as a geriatric and bariatric candidate for IVF. Emma admitted that both her partner, Paul, and herself are big binge eaters. Her goal personal goal is to get her sugars levels down as well as to get her weight down into a healthy bracket. Emma embarked on the 28 Day Challenge as she said that it is not about her any more, it is about being able to grow a healthy baby.
‘’I started the bulk of my IVF injections last week and although I have struggled over the last few weeks, portion size is something that I have picked up most and taken on board from the program. Moving forward, it’s about preparation and getting back into maintaining a good (food) routine. I’m pretty happy with the 25cm measurements loss….. but I can’t be too hard on myself now with the IVF journey I am on.”
Paul is a 40 year old qualified baker and he has been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. He wants to lose weight specifically for the IVF journey with his partner Emma and he wants to develop some better eating habits. Being a shift worker, he often skips meals and eats at odd times given that he sleeps during the day. Paul wants to develop some better eating habits during the 28 Day Challenge.

Amanda is 54 years old, works a corporate job, has 2 sons and needless to say she has a very busy life. About one year ago, Amanda had a partial hysterectomy which has lead her to start gaining weight in unexpected areas. She is also really upset that she can no longer wear her wedding rings due to putting on weight. Amanda has recently found that balancing her work travel, hotel stays and work functions whilst trying to do healthy meal-prep has been a struggle (plus she is also managing family life with her hubby and 2 sons on top of this too). Currently, Amanda is experiencing menopause, and, like many women her age, losing weight especially around the middle, can be a challenge due to hormonal changes. Our dietitian, and founder of Be Fit Food, Kate Save, supported Amanda on her 28 day challenge to improve her energy, take back control of her health and reach her goal of being able to wear her wedding rings again. Tune into this episode to see the incredible results that Amanda managed to achieve.
Ben was bullied all throughout high school, and he admits that he was always ‘bigger’ as a child too. Ben remembers that he couldn’t fit into any clothes therefore he didn’t want to go any go anywhere as he felt so uncomfortable about his weight. He was even self harming at times in his life. His mum recounts that both Ben and his sister got to the point where they did ‘not want to be here any more’ and then they all decided to have weight loss surgery. Ben stated that he wanted to do the 28 day Challenge with his mum to get back on track with his health post weight loss surgery as he felt that he wasn’t getting enough protein, vitamins and minerals to nourish his body whilst also achieving ongoing weight loss to reach his health goals.
"I’ve almost got to my goal weight which is really, really exciting….. I have gone from 120kg to 110kg. I have more energy to do things like exercise and going for walks. It’s so nice to be able to go into a store and just buy clothes off the rack and put them on as previously I just had to buy clothes online."
Christine also struggled with her weight her entire life and at 52 years old she had a stroke which she recounts as a very worrying time for her. Both to support her family and improve her health, she decided to have weight loss surgery. Christine wanted to do the 28 day challenge with her son Ben to make sure that they would keep each other on track given that post surgery there were a lot of foods that they could not eat for a while and she was concerned about losing her hair due to poor nutrition. Christine wants to now eat the correct foods for her body rather than just eating anything that would make her feel full without providing the right nutrition for their bodies to ensure they maintain critical lean body mass such as muscle mass whilst still losing unwanted body fat until she reaches her health goals. Christine’s main concern was not getting enough protein in her diet prior to the 28 day challenge.
‘’I’ve got from 86kg to 81kg and I feel really, really good. All of the meals have been really enjoyable and they have been really nice to eat. I am really enjoying the quality of the food as well. I have so much more energy and I sometimes now want to walk the dog in the morning and the evening’’

Geena is 52 years old, she has 2 children and she recently became a Grandma to little Lotti who is about to turn one. She runs a coffee cart in Beaconsfield at Mitre 10 and on weekends she likes to help mums with sleep respite. Geena wanted to do the 28 day challenge because she has always been a night nurse and struggled with her weight and energy levels and she wanted to find the right way to eat and exercise to suit her lifestyle. Her goal is to have great energy levels and to be healthy and fit but since her injury to her ACL, her mobility has been more limited and she doesn’t want to be an in-active Grandma. She is currently 96kg and would like to lose 10kg however with her age and menopause, she wants to be realistic and just be fitter and healthier for her granddaughter.
"It's been 2 weeks and I’ve continued to lose weight, loving those benefits. But its also the other benefits that you can’t measure…I am able to move around more and I’m a lot more stable as my moods are better and I have more positivity in general. I am extremely thankful that I started the challenge."
Jennifer is 36 year old wife, mother of an almost 2 year old son and a part-time disability support worker who started gaining weight when she was pregnant and then started some comfort eating habits due to subsequent health issues and she has not been able to break these habits since. She wants to get healthy for her son and feel more comfortable in her body again. Her doctors have told her that her blood test results are concerning and they want to start her on more and more medication. Her goal is to lose 30kg, improve her overall health and she’s really excited to have the guidance and support of our dietitian Kate Save whilst also not needing to cook for herself for the next 28 days.
"I’m really, really, pleased with my results to have lost 9kg in just 28 days and I’ve lost 2.5 dress sizes. I’m feeling more energetic, more mobile, I’m able to bend easier and get up off the floor easier. I am just so surprised that I could do this in just 28 days."

Join Eleanor as she embarks on a health change journey to look and feel her best on her special day. Exercise, healthy habits, and good nutrition are just a few aspects Eleanor will tackle as Kate Save ensures that the time leading up to her wedding will be the 28 days that changed her life.
‘’I was so nervous about starting Be Fit, as I was skeptical on how it would taste and if I would be hungry. I was truly so surprised. There are so many options to choose from - and each meal was tasty, filling and satisfying. Throughout my consultations with Kate, I was able to understand how carbohydrates work. This knowledge, and Be Fit's low carb, high protein food truly changed my life.
I am 15.5 kilos down and have noticed so many benefits from Be Fit including feeling more energised, sleeping better, less acid-reflux and a complete reduction in my eczema. I feel healthy inside out, and I am so, so thankful for this program. Thank you Be Fit!’’

Hi, I’m Kate Save, a dietitian, exercise physiologist and diabetes educator with over 20 years of experience in the field of health and wellness. My passion is helping people to feel healthier and happier by giving them more energy and supporting their bodies with good nutrition to ensure they are functioning at their highest potential. But most importantly, I want to ensure that I can help people to boost their self-confidence so that they radiate their positive energy with others to inspire and motivate them to live healthier and happier lives too.
28 Days That Changed My Life is a passion project for me as I know what people are capable of achieving if they are supported and given the right tools to just get them started, then their incredible results keep them motivated initially and eventually they find that they no longer need the external motivation of results on the scales or in their clothing. They actually find that they want to continue their new healthy lifestyle habits and sustain their results as it just becomes a new healthier way of life. The long term rewards that we find that people who change their lifestyle behaviours are more about the way they feel in themselves as they report increased energy levels, a more positive mood and an overall feeling of self confidence when they know they are living their healthiest lives.
