BE FIT FOOD STEPS
Best practice guidelines recommend following a Very Low-Calorie Diet (VLCD) prior to weight loss surgery to achieve small-moderate amounts of weight loss, making surgery safer for you.
VLCD’s are commonly used in the form of meal replacement bars and shakes, however, our Be Rapid Program is nutritionally equivalent to these products. Usually, your surgeon would recommend following a VLCD prior to surgery, for a minimum of two weeks before.
Preoperative Diet
Be Rapid – Our VLCD program includes 3 meals and 2 snacks per day and is designed for rapid weight loss, with an average rate of weight loss 1-2.5kg per week. Our low carb, high protein meals are a great substitute or addition to meal replacement products throughout this phase.

There are several postoperative stages that a client must follow and Be Fit Food might be suitable in some stages (speak to our dietitians regarding meal selections)
Clear Fluids (Weeks 0-1)
Nil BFF suitable
Free Fluids (Weeks 0-2)
Smoothies (strained smoothies)
Blended soups (added fluid may be required to reach desired consistency)
Protein booster
Pureed (Weeks 3-4)
Smoothies (strained smoothies)
Pureed soups (w/out grains or whole pieces of meat)
Soft meals (w/out grains or whole pieces of meat)
Soft/Mashed (Weeks 4-5)
Eggs/egg bites
Porridge (made with additional liquid)
Soups (w/out grains or whole pieces of meat)
Meals (w/out grains or whole pieces of meat)
Regular Diet (Week 6)
All meals and snacks suitable
Continue with step 1 or progress to step 2
(depending on your goals) once your surgeon has given
you the clearance to commence a regular diet.

These approaches are suitable to follow once you have reached your goal weight or if you would prefer a more gradual rate of weight loss.
