Summer seems to come with a never ending stream of social events where alcohol plays a huge, unavoidable role. When you're on your journey to lose weight, this can be a massive hurdle.
During the warmer months, serve up these delicious mocktails to your friends and family as a low-calorie & low-sugar alternative.
Virgin Kombucha Mojito
Provides good & healthy bacteria
What you'll need:
- 200mL strawberry kombucha
- Fresh mint leaves
- 2 tbs fresh lime juice
- 1 tsp natural sweetener (i.e. agave, honey, or substitute for stevia for 0 calories)
- Ice
Method:
- In a tall glass, muddle mint lightly. Pour in lime juice and sweetener.
- Add in ice. Pour in kombucha.
- Stir, then serve with lime slices.
Pineapple & Passionfruit Green Tea Spritzer
Offers a dose of antioxidants
What you'll need:
- 1 green tea bag, or tea of choice
- 50mL water
- 150mL diet lemonade
- ¼ cup pineapple chunks, muddled
- 1 tbs passionfruit pulp
- Ice
Method:
- Boil water and place in a glass with tea bag. Steep for 1-3 minutes. Remove tea bag.
- In a tall glass, add pineapple chunks and muddle. Add ice, passionfruit pulp, tea mixture and lemonade.
- Stir and serve.
Strawberry Kombucha Moscow Mule
What you'll need:
- 200mL ginger kombucha
- 5 strawberries, sliced and muddled
- 2 tbs fresh lime juice
- Ice, crushed
- Fresh mint leaves
Method:
- Place strawberries in a glass and muddle.
- Add kombucha and fresh lime juice. Stir.
- Top with ice, sliced strawberry and mint leaves.
Cranberry Orange Mocktail
What you'll need:
- 150mL diet lemonade
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 50mL freshly squeezed orange juice
- 2 tbs cranberry juice
- Frozen cranberries
- Ice
Method:
- Place ice in glass with frozen cranberries.
- Top with cranberry juice, orange juice and lemonade.
- Stir and garnish with orange slice.
